Oceans

 Hi

Last week my family and I went to Myrtle Beach South Carolina. We spent a lot of time at the beach looking at the Atlantic Ocean. The water looks clean, doesn't it?

Well, it's not. It is estimated that there are more than 5.25 trillion pieces of plastic debris in the oceans, hurting all sorts of marine life. Some of this plastic floats around on the surface. Most of it has sank to the bottom. My Girl Scout troop even tested the water in Cayuga Lake and we found microplastics in the water. Plastic is everywhere.

But there are organizations that are working hard to clean up the oceans. Here they are:

4Ocean

Oceana

Plastic Tides

Ocean Conservancy

The 5 Gyres Institute

Until next time,

Grace
