Purple Loosestrife

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago my dad and brother dug some Purple Loosestrife out of the ditch. We have seen it growing in ditches all over Lansing, NY. Purple Loosestrife is a noxious invasive species (a singe plant can produce more than two and a half million seeds). Purple Loosestrife can crowd out cattails, negatively impacting the animals (small mammals, amphibians, and birds) that rely on cattails for food and shelter. If you see Purple Loosestrife do your best to rip it out of the ground and throw it in the garbage.

Spirit Animal Update

hi, I’m back not even ten minutes after my last post with a spirit animal update and instead of one animal I shall do two the bee and the cat!

Bee spirit animal:

The spirit animal of the bee embodies fertility, wisdom, chastity, love, success, wealth, and hard work as well as altruism is an epitome of freemasonry.

Cat spirit animal:

The meaning of the cat does not symbolize the dark it actually symbolizes freedom, patience, adventurous spirit, curiosity, flexibility, affection, mystery, guardianship,  sensually, rebirth (probably because they have nine lives 😹), resurrection (again nine lives), and last is healing from within.

(Black cats are not unlucky their just different from other cats and no cat is the same even it they seem identical.)

*the next animal is going to be the bobcat*

Invasive Earthworms

 Hi,

More than half of the earthworm species in North America are non-native and invasive. These Non-native earthworms can cause ecological damage. Pictured are the known non-native earthworm species in New York. These pictures come from June/July 2022 issue of New York State Conservationist magazine.
