Purple Loosestrife

Hi,

A couple of weeks ago my dad and brother dug some Purple Loosestrife out of the ditch. We have seen it growing in ditches all over Lansing, NY. Purple Loosestrife is a noxious invasive species (a singe plant can produce more than two and a half million seeds). Purple Loosestrife can crowd out cattails, negatively impacting the animals (small mammals, amphibians, and birds) that rely on cattails for food and shelter. If you see Purple Loosestrife do your best to rip it out of the ground and throw it in the garbage.
