GFW and Ecosia

Hi everyone. I'm back with another post.

Global Forest Watch is a neat website. You can learn all about the state of the world's forests, especially where all the forest fires are (and there are a lot).

Here is Global Forest Watch in their own words:

www.globalforestwatch.org

“Global Forest Watch (GFW) is an online platform that provides data and tools for monitoring forests. By harnessing cutting-edge technology, GFW allows anyone to access near real-time information about where and how forests are changing around the world.”

Ecosia (www.ecosia.org) is a search engine that plants trees with most of the money they make through advertising. Ecosia is planting trees in many of the places where forest fires have happened.

Here is Ecosia in their own words:

“Plant trees while you search the web. We use the profit we make from your searches to plant trees where they are needed most.”

Trees are important because they provide food, shelter, and places to raise young for many birds, mammals, insects, amphibians, and reptiles. Trees also provide oxygen, food, shelter, and medicine for people.

Until next time, Grace
